Yet another breach came to light today, as Staples said it was looking into a "potential issue involving credit card data and has contacted law enforcement."
The hack, news of which was broken by Brian Krebs, apparently affects cards used in Staples stores in the North East of the US, but the scope is not yet known.
It's another thread in the long-running saga of credit card theft and ensuing online fraud that has hit major retailers like Target, Home Depot and others recently.
And while it's still so profitable, and e-commerce fraud so rife and attractive, consumers should watch their credit card statements for suspicious charges, and retailers should bolster their fraud detection systems. (And, hopefully, their risk prevention systems!)
